How Does Reiki Work?
Reiki is a form of alternative healing that channels energy through the palms of the hands. A Japanese Buddhist developed it in 1922, but it isn’t uniquely Buddhist, as it is used now by people of all walks of life. I visited www.reiki.org to investigate more. They describe it as a realignment of universal life force that flows through pathways in our bodies. Just like our blood flows through a complex system of veins, arteries, and capillaries, life force flows through chakras, meridians, and nadis. If the flow of blood is compromised, obviously whatever organ or tissue it was feeding becomes compromised. The same holds true for life force energy. If you have interruption in energy flow, you experience diminished function in the organ or tissue it feeds.
When you hear people talk about positive energy or negative energy, really they are talking about life force. It responds to feelings, emotions, dreams, and thoughts. It doesn’t matter if they are conscious or unconscious. I’m reminded of one of my favorite sayings from Buddha, here. “What we think, we become.” If you experience negativity, regardless of its source, it attaches itself to the life source energy within your body, causes disruption, and weakens that part of the body. Reiki actually charges that part of the energy field with positive life source energy and urges it to flow healthy and natural again.
All healers use life force to heal in some way or another, but not all healers are trained to use Reiki. Although it is believed that a few rare people may be born with this skill, for the most part, a true Reiki healer will be attuned by a Reiki master. So, people who heal with other energy forces who take Reiki training report a huge increase in their healing energies. People trained to use Reiki energy aren’t generating the energy themselves; they are channeling it through their bodies in a specific way. The universal source of energy is what enters the body and strengthens it. There is actually no energy exchange between healer and client, and the healer’s energy is not affected by the energy exchange.
A wonderful woman and great friend of Soundshift is Laura who is a Reiki II practitioner and crystal healing therapist. She has been working with energy for 30 years and completed her Reiki Practitioner Level Two training last year to take her work to the next level. She has been using SoundShift music for her meditation and healings and has had great results with “Trancendence”. You can learn more about what she has to offer, including periodic group distance healings, and connect with Laura at www.facebook.com/LightworkersAssistingHumanity
I have always been fascinated by Reiki. Although I have never gone to a practitioner to try it out, I have no doubts I would benefit greatly. If you are interested in being a client or maybe even becoming a healer using Reiki, I highly recommend visiting with someone who practices Reiki professionally to discuss it further.
